1. Overview

This page explains how TeachIt uses cookies and similar technologies, and how consent works. Essential cookies are required for the service to function (especially sign-in). Non-essential cookies are only used if we introduce them and obtain consent where required.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and session tokens used by the browser. Some are deleted when you close the browser (session); others persist for a set period (persistent).

3. Cookies we use

Authentication / session (essential): Auth.js / NextAuth session cookies keep you signed in and protect against common web attacks. Without these, login and authenticated features cannot work.
CSRF / security (essential): security cookies or tokens used to validate requests during sign-in flows.
Preference storage (functional): the app may store UI preferences in browser storage (for example panel state). These are not used for advertising.

We do not currently use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this page and request consent before setting non-essential cookies.

4. Legal basis and consent

Essential cookies: processed because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you request (ePrivacy / TTDSG equivalents; GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and/or (f) as applicable).
Non-essential cookies: only with your prior consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

Creating an account requires accepting our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. That acceptance covers processing described there; it is separate from optional cookie consent for non-essential technologies.

5. Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in and other authenticated features. For questions, contact webmaster@teachit.study.
